Lefkada \u00e8 un'isola del Mar Ionio e appartiene al complesso insulare di Eptanisa. Si trova tra le isole di Corf\u00f9 e Cefalonia. \u00c8 molto vicina alle coste della Grecia occidentale. Solo una piccola striscia di mare separa l'isola dall'Akarnania e un ponte galleggiante di cinquanta metri le collega.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

 Lefkada si estende su una superficie di 302,5 chilometri quadrati ed \u00e8 la quarta isola del complesso eptanese per dimensioni, con una popolazione di 23.000 persone. Lefkada, insieme alle isole di Meganissi, Kalamos, Kastos, Scorpios, Skorpidi, Mathouri, Sparti, Thilia, Kythros e altre pi\u00f9 piccole che le circondano, costituisce la provincia di Lefkada con la citt\u00e0 di Leukada come capoluogo ed \u00e8 divisa in 6 comuni (Lefkada, Ellomenos, Apollonion, Karyas, Sfakioton e Meganissi) e due contee (Kalamos e Kastos).<\/span><\/div>\n

Il clima dell'isola \u00e8 mediterraneo, con lunghi periodi di sole durante tutto l'anno, un inverno temperato ma piovoso e un'estate calda ma piacevole grazie alla brezza rinfrescante. Il 70% di Lefkada \u00e8 coperto da montagne. La cima pi\u00f9 alta di tutte \u00e8 Stavrota (1.182 m) con Elati (1.126 \u03bc.) che segue al secondo posto e San Lias (1.014 m) e Mega Oros (1.012 m) al terzo e quarto posto. Sul lato occidentale dell'isola, piuttosto ripido, si trovano molte lunghe spiagge sabbiose. Lefkada possiede stretti altopiani, valli fertili e canyon con ricche piantagioni, mentre la flora \u00e8 notevole e comprende ulivi, cipressi, una variet\u00e0 di pini, una particolare variet\u00e0 di quercia, erbe aromatiche e fiori rari.<\/span><\/div>\n
 
L'isola \u00e8 ricca di sorgenti, come quella nota di Kerasia a Sivros, di torrenti che a volte diventano piuttosto violenti e formano piccole cataratte come quella di Nydri, di Dimosaris e di canyon impressionanti come quelli di Mellisa di Sfakiotes e di Haradiatikos. I due laghi salati nella parte settentrionale dell'isola sono una riserva molto importante per molte specie di uccelli.<\/span><\/div>\n

Anche la costa di Lefkada \u00e8 molto ricca. \u00c8 composta da spiagge impressionanti, penisole, promontori - il Capo di Lefkata in particolare - insenature che creano magnifici porti naturali, distinguendo quelli di Vlihos, Syvota e Routha a est e Vassiliki nella parte meridionale dell'isola.
